But it is a great engine right up until that point. Fits the Fiero well.

Yes, they are known for their noise, handling , and vibration. Yeah, I know what you meant, I think you get some allowance for being tired generally and tired of quad four wiring voodoo specifically.
I always liked the fact that they looked like a Miller/Offenhauser with the covers off.
...though obviously unless a Fiero build has gone hilariously wrong/right, you won’t be going for making the Quad Four look like a sexy, sexy, Indy car engine.

I was poking around trying to find that kit, (using the way back machine I was able to find it on quad4rods.com, but they are now defunct) it looks amazing! It’s basically impossible to find now tho sadly, I think it would be neat looking In the car, not worth the cost tho

I agree with you agreeing with me; and the Fiero stock motor def wasn’t happy anyway, and I’d rather do one head gasket instead of two

To really make it look like an Offy you’d need an altered timing setup, which that kit doesn’t try to do, just tries to dress up the factory arrangement. Which is to say if I were going off the deep end with a huge budget, I’d look at maybe trying to figure out a gear drive or idler timing belt arrangement or something.
The Offy also has that sexy single row of bolts along each cam cover, which would naturally be very hard to duplicate.

I’d like to find a Sunbird turbo engine to put in one myself. But they just don’t exist anymore :(

TB F the GM 60 degree v6 didn’t have head gasket problems generally, just lower intake manifold problems which accomplished much of the same thing (oil/antifreeze mixing)

Yeah and to be fair, mine didn’t die because of a head gasket issue it was piston rings basically being dust, but just looking at the headgaskets the first time , there was coolant in the oil, and vice versa; the Fiero is better packaged with a I-4. (Like the mr2 that just went turbo not v6) so I’m happy; but I do understand the v6 if it was better maintained would probably be a better motor

I just had a Craig’s list and face book alert to find this quad 4. There’s always crazy people who gave to get rid of projects that one would assume are long gone
